"Climate Change Issues in Armenia" series of seminars for schoolchildren held in the frame of UNDP-GEF CBIT project

A series of seminars titled "Climate Change Issues in Armenia" took place on May 15-19. The events were organized in the frame of   UNDP-GEF "Building Armenia’s National Transparency Framework under Paris Agreement" (CBIT) project.

 

The series of seminars was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and school administrations and was aimed at raising the awareness of climate change related subjects among young people, encouraging their participation in the fight against climate change.

 

During the events, experts of CBIT project presented to pupils and teachers of Yerevan, Abovyan and Vanadzor schools main issues and the global context of climate change, current and forecasted impacts, consequences, vulnerabilities and risks identified in Armenia, as well as applicable adaptation and mitigation measures. Developments in the energy sector and energy efficiency actions, as well as problems and solutions related to waste management, were also presented and discussed.

 

More than 145 schoolchildren and 18 teachers participated in the series of events.
